Most novice or junior distance triathlons take between 15 to 40 minutes to complete depending on age. Training is always a good idea (and lots of fun), especially if you aren't used to doing exercise for that long. There's nothing like doing triathlons if you want to get better at them, so enter lots of races and watch yourself improve.
